The Mayhew Program Thanks Volunteers!

The Mayhew Program is grateful for the help of our volunteers each year. Each spring in May hearty and enthusiastic volunteers descend upon Mayhew Island to wake it up from its winter nap. You’ll find busy groups all over the island airing bunks, scrubbing common spaces, touching up paint and urethane, or enthusiastically engaged in outdoor winter clean-up projects necessary to make life inviting for the next adventurous group of Mayhew boys and summer staff arriving in June.
Thank you to the following groups/individuals that helped get Mayhew ready for the boys to arrive on June 21st!
  • Interlakes Properties
  • The Hart Family and Friends
  • Wayne Peterson
  • NH Electric Coop.
  • J Jill
  • Joanna Brayley
We also want to recognize Eversource and Interlakes Middle High School Interact Club for their support of Mayhew-those workdays were rained out.
We are grateful for the Bristol Hannaford, Bristol Dunkin Donuts and Odysey Coffee Roasters for providing coffee and food for our volunteers.
Mayhew challenges and helps at-risk New Hampshire boys to believe in themselves, work well with others, and find their best.  It is the only all-boys program in the state that combines school-year mentoring and a residential summer program for at-risk boys, tuition-free, through high school graduation.
All Mayhew participants benefit from regular mentoring visits in their home communities from Mayhew's team of professional outreach staff in one-on-one and small group settings throughout the year.  The focus is on helping the boys apply the program ideals of respect, responsibility, community, and challenge to their lives at home, school and beyond.
Since 1969 Mayhew has served over 2,300 boys from across the state.
