Belknap Mill Launches Weekly Spinners Group for Fiber Enthusiasts

Laconia, NH — The Belknap Mill is delighted to announce the formation of a new Spinners Group that will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Belknap Mill Museum, beginning May 6, 2025.

This group will be facilitated by Mill volunteer, Joyce Keyser, a production spinner with years of experience and a passion for sharing the art of spinning. The gathering is open to all — from seasoned spinners to beginners, and even those who simply enjoy working with fiber in other ways.

"We are excited to offer a space where people can come together to create, connect, and learn from one another," said Associate Director Jill Desruisseaux. "Whether you’re spinning yarn, needle felting, knitting, or crocheting, this group is about community and creativity."

Participants are encouraged to bring their spinning wheels, spindles, and fiber projects. Those new to the craft are welcome to come observe, ask questions, and learn in a relaxed, supportive environment. You don’t need to be an expert to join — just bring your curiosity and love of fiber arts!

The group will also offer opportunities to show off ongoing projects, share techniques, and celebrate the joy of handmade work. Coffee, conversation, and creativity are guaranteed.
